High Sulfur Furnace Oil

High sulfur furnace oil is a type of heavy fuel oil that has a maximum allowable limit of sulfur content (i.e. 3.5% m/m) as specified by ISO 8217-2005. The most common type of HSFO imported has a viscosity of 180 cSt @ 50o C and density 991 kg/m3. Winter grade is 120 cST.

The average annual consumption of HSFO in Pakistan is around 9M MT. 30% of this demand is fulfilled by local refineries while 70% is imported. The major user of HSFO is the Power sector with 85% share in the total consumption.
